So this is a momentous day, the very first time Cupcake Monday has appeared on this blog versus its former happykatie blog home.  I won’t be moving all of the gazillions of Cupcake Monday content from years gone by, but you can find them here on happykatie quite easily.

You’d think that I would be the mom that makes a gazillion custom funky cakes for my little happy family.  You know, the kind that take 7 hours to perfect the random sugar cacti spikes, ganache guitar strings or homemade marshmallow eyeballs.

Sadly, this is not the case – I work, I cook, I eat…  but I leave the intricate cake designs to other mamas and ogle them on the interwebs.

This puffer fish birthday cake from the fantastic WallFry blog falls into that exact category.  Hilariously awesome, super detailed and frequently ogled – I’m not ashamed.

The only thing that would make this cake better would be to cupcake-ize it, which is exactly why it’s showing up on a Cupcake Monday post.  Could you just imagine a school of puffer fish cupcakes?  AHHH!!!  Can’t wait for the how-to post, I just might roll up my baking sleeves for this one.
